Located in the central part of Aichi prefecture, the city covers an area of 32.11 square kilometers.
The city is conveniently situated near the Nagoya city and Toyota city.
The city is surrounded by an abundance nature and a comfortable environment.
Miyoshi Town had a population of 9,043 people when it was organized as a town in April 1958.
The population reached 50,000 in December 2002.
The town's 2005 census population growth rate of 18.0% ranked highest in Aichi prefecture and fifth among the country's municipalities.
Miyoshi is currently the most populated town in Japan.

Under the Great Merger of Meiji in 1889, the former village name was abolished and the new villages of "Miyoshi," "Azabu" and "Akekoshi" were organized in its stead.
In 1906, the three villages merged to form Miyoshi Village.
Present-day Miyoshi Town was established on April 1, 1958
City Tree - The Mikawa Black Pine
In July 1973, a poll was conducted to decide on a fitting tree to serve as a town symbol. The Mikawa Black Pine was chosen because of its strong, tall trunk and branches that soar into the sky.
City Flower - The Satsuki Azalea
The beautiful Satsuki Azalea adorns Miyoshi City every year around June. A long time favorite of the townspeople, this flower was chosen as the city flower at the same time that the city tree was chosen.
